             ('DiggThis)      SocialTwist Tell-a-Friend

Twitter has come up with its own suggestion algorithm.  The new functionality launched a couple of days back is now visible at the right hand upper half of your account.

The following are the highlights of the new functionality

  1. Twitter’s new addition is similar to Facebook’s friends suggestions module, it matched something that was missing and necessary.
  2. Twitter suggest surely to lead a flurry of more additions in followers across the board. Individuals/companies would find some searched friends to be followed at their finger tips.
  3. This increase in number of followers is sure to increase the total amount of data transfer (or tweets) in the website. Some advantage to twitter itself for advertisement, online marketers to find probable followers.
  4. A very important functionality addition for the users, it saves times for them.
  5. One of the most important difference between facebook and twitter suggests are the suggestions themselves. Facebook usually suggest people who are connected to you by some way. The logic for suggesting in facebook usually lies in the information that you have added into your profile (school, university, groups) and the friends that you have accepted. While twitter seems to suggest people who are popular in your geographical area (famous personalities) + your friends following them and people (your friends) who are follwoed by your friends.
  6. They are suggesting 20 accounts to be followed and when you follow them, new ones are added into the list. [This is similar to facebook]
  7. You have an option to hide the suggestions as well, if you are not interested in that person/account.

Now important questions for many people would be:

How to reach the top of recommendations for as many people as possible?

Does sending out regular tweets (active accounts) have an edge for being displayed in the recommendation section?

Will your presence in lists would help you get recommended?

Eager to hear your comments!!
