In its quest to help webmasters, Bing has come up with a very interesting offer through its Bing Webmasters Account. Now you can Submit your URLs for crawling and then subsequent indexing in Bing.
Many webmasters and SEO experts have always complained that Bing has been very slow in its indexing of their web pages in comparison to Google. Now when Google Analytics shows you data that Google had sent you 15x traffic while the traffic from Bing is only x. Till this point there was nothing much that you would have done directly to influence the crawling of your web pages although there are lot of suggested methods that you can take up to help your indexing but none of them have been direct and simple ways to do that.
Have a look at the below mentioned diagram and it would seem so easy for you submit your top 10 URLs per day till a limit of 50 URLs per month.
Simple Steps:
- Log in to your Bing Webmaster’s account
- Go to Index tab
- Click the “Submit URLs” option in the left hand panel
- Submit up to 10 URLs in a day (max)
- Keep doing every day till you reach 50 for that month.
How to Chose the top 10 URLs?
- You can choose those URLs which have in turn lot of internal links and therefore once they are crawled other pages of the website (linked to the same) would be crawled.
- You can chose the most visited URLs from your Google Analytics account and then check if they have not been indexed by Bing, submit all these URLs.
How does Google Analytics comes into picture?
In many websites Google sends more (even much more than the total share of Google’s search volumes) than Bing. Assuming that Google’s share of the search engine market is 80% and your website’s traffic is 1000 per month from Search engine. It is noticed in many cases that Bing send’s not even 5% of the search traffic.
So if you are getting most of your traffic from Google and have a Google Analytics account:
- Log into your Google Analytics account
- Go to the Content Tab in the left hand navigational panel
- Chose “Top Content”
- Go to the lower section of the page and change the “Show rows” to 100
- Chose the export option in the top left hand bar and download the file as csv file
- For all the links displayed in the page, search in www.bing.com
- [Lets take an example that www.abc.com/page15.html is coming up as the top content receiver, simply copy that link and search in Bing]
- If bing returns that link then it is indexed, if not write it down as link to be submitted to Bing.
- Prepare a list of 50 URLs and keep submitting them through a month.
- Check when they have been crawled and indexed.
